City Hall Won’t Accept Patrol Boat

The controversial patrol boat donated by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) years ago to the City Government of Bacolod - through the effort of Councilor Carl Lopez, was not accepted yesterday afternoon by City Hall.

THESE ARE JUST AMONG PHOTOGRAPHS taken yesterday morning at about 9 o’clock by Executive Assistant to the Bacolod Mayor, Butch Ebreo, saying the controversial patrol boat and dumptruck were being kept in a compound he suspects belongs to Bacolod Councilor Carl Lopez.*

‘Patrol Boat is Needed for Maritime Protection’

Executive Assistant and Bacolod Traffic Authority Over-all Coordinator Butch Ebreo said that the move of Councilor Carl Lopez in turning-over the controversial multi-million-peso patrol boat that was acquired through the donation of Senator Loren Legarda is a great help for the protection of maritime zone or the Bantay Dagat Program.

Ebreo told NDB that the patrol boat was accepted in September of 2012 as reflected in the document retrieved.

Ebreo assailed Lopez, "why only now that he decided to turn-over the patrol boat as the letter of acceptance was done two years ago".

Earlier, Ebreo was contemplating on filing a case against Lopez before the Office of the Ombudsman after an Audit Observation Memorandum came out from the Commission on Audit (COA) that found out that the donated boat was not recorded as government property since it was acquired through donation.
