Descallar is Cleared

After having been cleared by Bacolod City Police Office OIC-Director Sr. Supt. Larry Decena, the National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) also cleared Supt. Jefferson T. Descallar of any link to illegal drugs.

NAPOLCOM Regional Officer Atty. Marte Palomar has formed an investigating team led by Inspector IV Napoleon Arostique, with Atty. Jorelyne Gasataya and Inspector II Felix Leo Loriega, to conduct an investigation.

The investigation centered on an alleged complaint against Descallar by a "concerned media reporter of Bacolod and Mamamayan Kontra Droga" that was addressed to the PNP chief.

NAPOLCOM probers visited the Negros Press Club (NPC) and the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster sa Pilipinas (KBP).

Both media groups denied any knowledge about the supposed media reporter in their lists.

Local KBP chapter chairman Joppy Ploteria was quoted as saying that "if said media reporter is existing and comes from the fold of KBP, he should have passed the letter to our office and the KBP could have facilitated it."

Same with the NPC.

PDEA, on the other hand, reportedly told Descallar they conducted background check and found no Descallar linkage to illegal drugs nor is receiving money from drug lords.

Descallar was relieved from the Bacolod PNP on order of Regional Director Chief Supt. Josephus Angan signed May 9.
