'Pantawid' Families Get DSWD Advice
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) continues to clarify to the grantees in Bacolod City the recent clamor of some Barangay 3 residents about the supposed cash assistance that is due them. The subsidy is in the form of cash that is in compliance with the 2017 GAA Provision. The subsidy is being released together with cash grants during scheduled payouts to all Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program to its beneficiaries.

Ruel Gepilga, Provincial Grievance Officer graced the said press confab to directly address complaints of beneficiaries that came out and asked questions on their cash grants. Among the issues explained are the cash cards that are being pawned by beneficiaries to “loan sharks” resulting to the deletion of their names in the list of those who can benefit out of the program.
Along with Gepilga is Roque Boy Marañon, Cluster Grievance Officer who helped in explaining governing policies why grants are being de-listed and suspended. Gepilga and Marañon both clarified to the beneficiaries that grantees who have pawned their cards would be automatically deleted and suspended since it is not allowed.
Individuals who are employed and has an income above P10,000 are also deleted from the program and is given to those in need. “It is the Government’s assistance to the people to enable them to send their children to school. It is where we invest - in human capital so as they can build their lives in the future.” Gepilga concluded.*(Owen Segovia Bayog)
