Capitol to Launch Farmers’ Market
The Provincial Government of Negros Occidental through the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist will be launching the “Farmers Market sa Kapitolyo” on Sept. 15, 2017 at the Provincial Capitol Driveway, North Capitol Road. The holding of the farmers market will be held every 2nd and last Friday of the month thereafter.
This endeavor aims to showcase, promote and sell out farmers’ products and link them to direct buyers and consumers through market matching and personal contact.
Moreover, this will give the farmers and producers to find sustainable transactions where producers can increase their production as demand increases and subsequently redound to increased income.
Further, wholesale buyers can find sustainable supply of products for a long term market exchange.
For retail buyers and homemakers and the general consumers, it is very advantageous because the “Farmers Market sa Kapitolyo” offers products which are fresh, healthy, direct from the farm and affordable.
Products on showcase include naturally grown rootcrops, fresh vegetables and fruits, poultry & fishery products, processed foods, etc.
The Provincial Government provides canopies/tents for display which are free of charge to really help our farmers gain more profit and opportunity for their products to have access and be accessible to the market. Ultimately, this will contribute in attaining the Province’s goal towards Food Security.*(OPA)
