PCSO Chair Calls Anew on Local PNP to Go After Gamblers
The chairman of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO), for the nth time, called on local police forces to also go after cops protecting illegal gambling operations.
Jose Jorge Corpuz told newsmen in Silay City yesterday that despite PCSO’s call on the Philippine National Police (PNP), they continue to get reports on the involvement of policemen in illegal gambling.
“We have a memorandum of agreement with the PNP, as well as with the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) that they catch operators of illegal gambling,” Corpuz said.
“If they do not act on it, they will be relieved,” Corpuz said.
Corpuz led the turn over meter Hampangan playground facilities at the Silay public plaza by the Super Lucky Beagler Inc. led by Dino Jalandoni.
He added that they have received information that some police officers in Negros are protecting illegal gambling.
“We have forwarded it to the PNP and it is up to them to investigate and act on it,” he also said.
Corpuz said that currently there are 19 operators of STL nationwide and in Negros Occidental alone, it has a collection of P119 million per month.*
