TMC Season 4: Somcio Shines in August Finals

Seeded 4th in the Masters Event, Dwight Somcio defeated higher seed bowlers to snatch the August title in the Tenpin Masters Challenge (TMC) Season Four Shoot-Out Finale at Lopue’s East Bowling Center, Villamonte.

Somcio dropped 209 pin falls against Joemil Villarosa’s 188 output in the championship shootout to secure a monthly title. Both bowlers have the same handicap points of 20 per game.

On the other side, seeded no.2 OJ Lopue outgunned seeded no.1 Herman Santos to secure the second runner-up honor. Lopue won 185-173.

In the crossover semi-final round, 3rd seed Villarosa edged Lopue with a score of 186-176; while Somcio shutout Santos, 212-180. Tol De Asis settled for a fourth runner-up finish.

Completing the players in the top 10 Masters are Hector Jamiana, Dr Larnie Vencer, Dr Tony Vasquez, Teody Chavoso, and Leoner Ynzon.

Somcio join the elite of tenpinners this season including Dr Vencer.

Meanwhile, aspiring tenpin bowler Albert Solidarios displayed a strong performance in the 2017 Hilit-Hilit Tournament to secure the August King of the Lanes title.

Top seed Solidarios kept it tight in the final round to beat eventual 1st runner-up Silverio Lumactod, 197-186; while Jun Pamatian and Pat Mendoza settled for 2nd & 3rd, respectively.

Rounding up the top ten finishers: Solidarios - 587, Henry Toga - 572, Engr Ariel Yelo - 563, Boyet A - 556, Mendoza - 547, Jack Palermo - 543, Lumactod - 541, Richel Gumban - 540, Pamatian - 526, and Eric E - 521.

The second qualifying playdate resume tomorrow at 8PM.

Top ten qualifiers will play in the Masters Event for a 5-game elimination round on September 28. Prizes are up to Top five but only the Top four will advance to the Shoot-Out Finale.

The oiling pattern for this month will be Pattern #7 which has a buff area of 36 feet, 31 feet of oil and has a total volume of 19.53ml. The previous oiling pattern used had 17.50ml of oil, buff area of 44 feet and 30 feet of oil.

This season’s TMC is organized by the officers of STAI played every Tuesdays and Thursdays.
