Sept. 21 Movement to Stage Protest

Members of the September 21 Movement and the Alyansang Mamumugon sa Kawad-on with over 50 farmer-members are set to stage a protest rally before the Martial Law celebration (September 21), at the town of Binalbagan.

According to Felipe Gelle, spokesperson of the group, in a radio interview, they have tried to meet with Mayor Tinto Bascon of Himamaylan to ask his help because the farmers seem to lose livelihood already. Considering that only few landowners hire workers in their farmland because of the slump in sugar prices.

Gelle also said, they will ask for agricultural support like seedlings and farm implements so the farmers could go back to farming as their livelihood.

Further, Gelle said they will stage a protest rally to elevate their concerns to the government.*(Edith B. Colmo)
