The young needs guidance
Mayor Monico O. Puentevella yesterday agreed with Bacolod Bishop Vicente M. Navarra on the need to protect young Bacoleños from the bad influences of the so-called wet and wild parties and to encourage clean fun, for them to indulge in wholesome activities, notably sports and encourage parents to be always aware of their children’s whereabouts.
Puentevella thanked the Bishop for taking up the cudgels for worried parents by calling on all sectors - religious, civic and government alike to join hands in this worthy advocacy for the benefit of the young who definitely needs some guidance and understanding.
As the Bishop had stated in his letter to the Mayor, "The moulding of the youth shall not only be the responsibility of parents but also those in the church and government must have a hand in the formation of our young children."
Puentevella also agreed with Bishop Navarra and Fr. Ernie Larida, director of the Diocesan Social Action Center in their letter that "there is need to take necessary steps to protect the young from engaging in parties or gatherings that do not promote growth but encourage decadent behavior."
