Oti Respects DILG Opinion on Maravilla Replacement

Silay City Mayor Jose Montelibano yesterday said he respects an opinion of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) which said that in case of death, “The appointee shall come from the same political party as that of the Sanggunian member who caused the vacancy and shall serve the unexpired term of the vacant office.”

Montelibano’s reaction comes on the heels of the withdrawal of Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon, Jr. revoking the appointment of Mario Torres, Sr. to replace Maravilla.

Four LGUs Sign MOA for Metro Negros CRMDC

The cities of Bacolod, Talisay and Silay and the Municipality of E.B. Magalona signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) creating the Metro Negros Coastal Resources Management and Development Council (Metro Negros CRMDC) in a ceremony held at Silay Civic Center in Silay City, yesterday.

Silay City Charter Anniversary Opens Today

"SILAYNON: Sa Pag-ugyon, Magasanag ang Palaabuton" is the theme of the 57th Charter Anniversary of Silay City which will officially open today, Friday.

The celebrations will kick off with the Silaynon Pride Walk from the marker at Brgy. Guinhalaran to the public plaza.

LIN-AY SANG SILAY HOPEFULS. The Search for Lin-ay Sang Silay candidates will also be presented together with their respective barangay captains in today’s opening of Silay City’s 57th Charter Anniversary.*

Joining in the pride walk are the 16 barangays of Silay, the Search for Lin-ay Sang Silay candidates, religious and other non-government organizations, scholars, Department of Education and Silay Government employees.

Silay PNP Parade and Review will then commence at the public plaza covered court in honor of the men and women in uniform in due recognition to their service to the people of Silay.

Mayor Jose L. Montelibano, mayor of Silay, will then formally declare the opening of the 57th Charter Anniversary of the city as well as of the Employees’ Sportsfest.

The City Health Office will then lead the crowd in a dance exercise dubbed ‘Hataw Sayaw sa Plaza’.

After, the 15 candidates for the Search for Lin-ay Sang Silay will be presented to the public together with their respective barangay captains. This year’s candidates are Sinead Angelica Jain (Brgy. 3), Joy Pauline Geronca (Brgy. 4), Jovelyn Opianga (Brgy. Guinhalaran), Mary Joy Verbo (Brgy. 5), Dhalia Hofileña (Brgy. Balaring), Rhoma Jane Elano (Brgy. E. Lopez), Mary Danica Bilbao (Brgy. 2), Irene Catalan (Brgy. Patag), Julie Ann Nones (Brgy. Kapitan Ramon), Alisa Mari Jaen (Brgy. Mambulac), Dennie Grace Dumrique (Brgy. Lantad), Noreen Therese Soluta (Brgy. 1), Elona Olano (Brgy. Bagtic), Jannica Barbasa (Brgy. Rizal) and Joanna Marie Ruiz (Brgy. Guimbalaon).

VP Binay to Grace 3rd District Housing Program

Vice-President Jejomar Binay who is chair of the Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council will be guest of honor and speaker in today’s Awarding Program and Signing of Memorandum of Agreement with Third District local government units and the Social Housing and Finance Corporation (SHFC) for the Localized Community Mortgage Program (LCMP).

The program is set at 1 pm at the Esteban de la Rama Hall of the Talisay City Hall.

Expected to attend are local government officials and housing stakeholders of the province’s 3rd District.

Reward Money to Capture Ayalin Now at P800K

Silay City Councilor and Committee on Peace and Order chairman Toto Celis has clarified that the city government of Silay has added an additional P300, 000 for the capture or arrest of the suspect Noel Ayalin, former punong barangay in Silay.

Celis said that Silay Sangguniang Panglungsod (SP) members have unanimously passed the resolution urging City Mayor Jose L. Montelibano to appropriate the same amount in addition to the existing P500,000 as reward money for the speedy capture or arrest of former Kapitan Ramon punong barangay Noel Ayalin, in the blood bath at the barangay on March 6, 2011.
