Local News: Cong. Ferrer Receives Token of Gratitude
Stricken by diabetes until his left leg was amputated, Eduardo Baldonado of Bago City limped his way around doing household chores on crutches.
On one occasion, a friend informed him that Congressman Jeffrey P. Ferrer - 4th District, Negros Occ. has a program aiding amputees through free wheelchairs. Learning of his plight, his case was immediately attended to by Cong. Ferrer and Mayor Juliet Marie D. Ferrer through a friend’s representation.
Weeks later, the Congressman’s office received an envelop with the picture of Baldonado with words of thanks.
Local News: Rice Subsidy for Indigent Families Continues in La Carlota City
A total of 878 recipients benefited from the rice subsidy program of Mayor Juliet Marie D. Ferrer for the month of February 2013. The identified recipients were from Brgy. Ayungon and Brgy. I- Poblacion.
Events: Gov Leads Inauguration of Renovated DSBMDH in La Carlota City
Gov. Alfredo G. Marañon, Jr. led local and hospital officials in the inauguration and blessing of the renovated Don Salvador Benedicto Memorial District Hospital (DSBMDH) in this city Friday, February 15, 2013.
DSBMDH Chief of Hospital Dr. Jose Mari Salvador disclosed that the total cost of upgrading and renovation was pegged at Php 39.5 million. Gov. Marañon in his message reiterated that 40 percent of the provincial budget and expenses goes to health care programs. "We believe that healthy people are happy, and so we are trying to bring health care services closer to the people at an affordable or no cost at all," the governor added.
The provincial chief executive also noted the efforts of Sen. Francis Pangilinan, Fourth District Representative Jeffrey Ferrer and the Negros Occidental Rainbow Foundation who donated additional rooms for the expansion of the hospital.

Events: La Carlota is Child-Friendly City
DSWD Region VI Director Ma. Evelyn Macapobre turned over to Mayor Juliet Marie D. Ferrer last February 12, 2013 a plaque recognizing La Carlota City as the 2012 Child-Friendly City and a P 50,000.00 check as component award.

The City has been active in implementing the development programs for children, institutionalization of a child-friendly environment and promotion of children’s rights and welfare in the local governance. La Carlota City earned the highest rating of 91.34% in the Regional Component City Category.
Local News: Mayor Ferrer Commends La Carlota City PNP
In accordance with the priority agenda of Mayor Juliet Marie D. Ferrer - all-out campaign against illegal and prohibited drugs in this city, 18 PNP officials of La Carlota City Police Station had been awarded the certificate of commendation. This is in connection with their successful conduct of search and seizure operation last December 13, 2012, 4:00 P.M. and in arresting Richard Meles Y Agreda, 37, married, of Purok 3, Barangay Nagasi by virtue of Search Warrant No. 41 issued by Judge Edgar R. Tupas of the Municipal Trial Court in Cities (MTCC) and having done so recovered eleven sticks of suspected knot-tied marijuana cigarettes on act in violation of The Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
The Search and Seizure was witnessed by Barangay Captain Joel Senares and Barangay Kagawad Estanislao Tuma-ob. The subject Richard Meles Y. Agreda was brought to the La Carlota City Police Station for booking and disposition. A case for violation of Section 11, Republic Act 9165 was filed by the station at the Prosecutor’s Office.
Sports: Tennis Stars from La Carlota Excel
A group of young and promising tennis players from La Carlota North Elementary School recently paid a visit to Mayor Juliet Marie D. Ferrer to thank her and Cong. Jeffrey P. Ferrer – 4th Dist. – Negros Occ. for their support and to present the medals they won in the Philippine Tennis Association (Philta) – Palawan Pawnshop Regional Age-Group Tennis Championship held in Dumalag, Capiz last January 17–20, 2013.

Leading the winners with her excellent performance in the Girls 12-Under and 14-Under category was 10-year old Shyryn Gybryl Salazar. She demolished all opposition, including older players to amass two championship titles in her class.
The other tennis star performers were Kiana Louise de Asis: 14-U Girls, runner–up and 16-Under Girls semifinalist; Karl Christian D. Baran: 14 Under Boys runner – up, 16 Under Boys semifinalist; Keanu Andrea Flores: 16 Under Girls Champion, 18-Under Girls runner up; and Toni Rose Raymundo: 18-U Girls Champion; 16-U Girls runner–up.
Local News: La Carlota Holds Workshop on Standards in Processing Business Permits and Licenses
In line with Mayor Juliet Marie D. Ferrer’s First Priority Agenda, the City of La Carlota held a Seminar Workshop on Standards in Processing Business Permits and Licenses to all local and national agencies including department heads at the 3rd Floor, Social Hall , Main Building of La Carlota City yesterday. The project also is in line with the joint DILG-DTI Department Administrative Order No.10-07 Series of 2010. Guidelines in implementing the nationwide upscaling of reform in Processing Business Permits and Licenses in all cities and municipalities in the Philippines and pursuant to Republic Act No. 9485 otherwise known as the Anti-Red Tape Act (ARTA). All government instrumentalities are mandated to provide efficient delivery of services to all public offices by reducing bureaucratic red tape and preventing graft and corruption and providing penalties thereof.
Local News: La Carlota City Pasalamat Festival is Best Provincial Tourism Event-Cultural Category
The City of La Carlota headed by Mayor Juliet Marie D. Ferrer and its City Tourism Office received awards for Tourism Programs Excellence. The first was the Provincial Tourism Excellence Awards for the Pasalamat FestivaL as the Best Tourism Event (Cultural Category) given by the Association of Tourism Officers of Negros Occidental (ATONO) held at the L’Fisher Hotel Social Hall, Bacolod City recently.

Events: DOH Cites for TB Cases Reduction in the City of La Carlota
The Department of Health (DOH) Center for Health Development Western Visayas and Linking Initiatives and Networking to Control Tuberculosis (TB-Link) Project awarded La Carlota City Mayor Juliet Marie D. Ferrer on May 8, 2012, a Certificate of Recognition for her staunch advocacy on TB Control. Her efforts empowered the City of La Carlota to post the Most Improved Cure Rate for the Past Three Years.
