8th ANOPSSAI Sports and Cultural Meet Starts Off in Murcia

Around 2,000 student-athletes, coaches and delegation representative converged at the Murcia town gym yesterday for the opening rites of the 8th edition of the Association of Negros Occidental Private Schools and School Administrators Inc. (ANOPSSAI) Sports and Cultural Meet 2015 scheduled October 29-31.

This school-based competition, hosted by Murcia Open Bible Christian Academy (Murcia), will serve as the qualifying tournament for ANOPSSAI representing Area X in the upcoming 2015 Palarong Panlalawigan this December.

During the opening ceremony, guest speaker Nonong Verdeflor – Executive Assistant to Gov. Alfredo Maranon Jr. and provincial sports coordinator, conveyed the provincial father’s message to the association’s members.

“Our beloved Gov. Marañon extends his warmest greetings to the delegates, coaches, trainors and most of all the parents who has given their all-out support for the success of this evet,” Verdeflor said.

“We are here to mold our athletes to be champions in chosen field of event. Not only to become champions but also become better persons of our society,” he added.

Verdeflor further stressed that sports is a discipline and in order to excel in any sports activity, athletes must spend hours and hours in training. “No one achieves excellence in any field without tremendous self-discipline, hours of rigorous training and the willingness to suffer great hardship in order to achieve the goals we have set for ourselves. We these qualities you will surely be winners not only in sports but also in life,” he added.

Among the participating schools are: Northern Negros –Colegio San Nicolas de Tolentino – Recoletos (Talisay City), Faraon College – Cadiz City, Holy Infant Academy – Cadiz City, Jack and Jill School – Victorias City, Prestige Comprehensive School –Talisay City, Open Door Christian Academy – Talisay City, and Shema Christian School – Talisay City; Bacolod City – Christian Ventures Academy, Eliakim Learning Center, and Living Heritage Christian Academy; and Southern Negros – Calvary Baptist School (Pontevedra), Cauayan Christian Academy (Cauayan), Dancalan Private Academy (Ilog), Faith Christian School (Valladolid), Fundamental Baptist School (Binalbagan), Francisco Infante Memorial High School (Valladolid), Hinigaran Institute (Hinigaran), Iloilo Private Academy (Ilog), Isio Private Academy (Cauayan), Marlis Learning Center, and Pulupandan Praise Christian School.
