30 Schools Confirm in 2017 UniGames

DUMAGUETE CITY - Thirty colleges and universities have confirmed their participation in the 2017 University Games (UniGames) slated on October 22 to 28 in this city, Negros Oriental.

Participating schools arrives October 22 and 23 with the opening schedule at 4PM tomorrow, October 24 at Macias Sports Complex following the technical meeting of coaches and technical officials at 9AM on Tuesday. The competition will starts October 25 until October 30.

Guest will be Raffy Villavicencio, Chief Executive Officer of FILOIL and Mr Ramon “Tats” Suzara, President of Philippine Super Liga (PSL).

Roger A. Banzuela, UniGames President said there ten sports disciplines are to be contested in different venues hosted by the province of Negros Oriental and co-hosted by the City of Dumaguete.

This year’s theme: “The Games that bring us together for Unity and Peace”

The ten sports event are men and women athletics to be played at Perdices Coliseum; men and women badminton at The Riverside Courts; men and women basketball at Lamberto Macias Sports Center; men and women chess at Negros Oriental Convention Center; men football at Perdices Coliseum; men sepak takraw (best regu) at Foundation University blue gym; men and women table tennis at Negros Oriental Convention Center; men and women taekwondo at Foundation University or Robinson’s place; men and women volleyball at Foundation University Gym, Valencia Gym or Barangay Talay Covered Gym as reserved; and men and women beach volleyball at Rizal Boulevard n Dumaguete City.

After missing last year’s event, University of St. La Salle has return participating for men athletics, women basketball, football, men and women table tennis, men and women volleyball and men beach volleyball.

Banzuela said the billeting center of different schools is West Elementary Schools, South elementary Schools, Batingel Elementary School, Magsaysay Memorial elementary School, Junob Elementary School, Camanjac Elementary School and North City Elementary School.
