Ceres Slides to 2-All Draw vs JPV
After leading by 2 in halftime, Ceres-Negros Football Club lost its balance in the 2nd half as JPV Marikina salvaged a 2-all draw on Wednesday in the ongoing 2017 Philippines Football League at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Bacolod City.
The opening goal was scored by Fernando Rodriguez of Ceres FC in the 25th minute after JPV’s Lemuel Unabia swept Busmen’s Bienvenido Maranon inside the box. As Referee Mick John Pineda pointed to the spot, PJ Fadrigalan of JPV pushed down the referee after the call then was sent out of the field of play.
Rodriguez scored his brace inside the box after a fake to shoot past JPV goalkeeper Jun Tripulca in the 40th.
JP Voltes made its first goal in the 71st courtesy of Takumi Uesato near post to make it 2-1. They equalized the score in the 79th on a penalty shot by Takashi Odawara on his third attempt.
The first one was waved by the referee after an early incursion by Odowara’s teammate, while the second came from Ceres keeper Roland Muller who got off his line early.
The Busmen were given a chance to win the match when Unabia was called for a foul in the box in injury time but Rodriguez weak attempt was saved by Tripulca before a follow up by Carlie De Murga of the Busmen was cleared off the face of goal by Odawara.
Ceres is currently at third with 39 points, while JPV has 27. Both teams will have another match in Bacolod on October 28.* (JGToga with report from ceresfootball.com)
