October 19 A Special Non-working Holiday

Bacolod City Mayor Monico Puentevella has crafted Executive Order No. 012-10-15, declaring October 19 as a Special Nonworking Holiday in celebration of the Charter Day of Bacolod City.

The Executive Order is in line with Republic Act No. 7724, or an “Act Declaring October Nineteen of Every Year a Special Nonworking Public Holiday in the City of Bacolod” to be Known as “Bacolod City Charter Day” which was approved by then Senate President Edgardo Angara, House Speaker Jose De Venecia, Jr. and former President Fidel Ramos on May 19, 1994.

The public holiday declaration is to provide full opportunity for the people of Bacolod to celebrate the anniversary of the cityhood of Bacolod, Puentevella said in his EO.

Bacolod became a city through Commonwealth Act No. 326 and was inaugurated on October 19, 1938 under Presidential Proclamation No. 322, Series of 1938.*(CMO-PIO)
