Suspect in Mabinay Police Shooting Still Unknown

A neophyte police officer of Mabinay Police Station in Negros Oriental was found dead with gunshot wound in the head around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday along the National Highway at Purok 1, Barangay Poblacion, Mabinay town, Negros Occidental.

The victim was identified as PO1 Jay Ramel Nogra, 28, of Barangay Poblacion, Mabinay.

He has a gunshot wound in the head and was brought to Mabinay Community Hospital but was transferred to Medical Center Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

The victim was on his way back to the police station when his motorcycle fell on the road for unknown reason.

His service Glock .9mm pistol was found detached from his holster.

On or about 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Nogra was one of the policemen who conducted intelligence monitoring at the vicinity of Barangay Poblacion, Mabinay town.

His colleague was investigating if he was shot dead by an unidentified suspect or, if his service firearm accidentally fired after his motorcycle fell on the road.*
