Visayas Has 240 New Soldiers

Central and Western Visayas has 240 new soldiers in the Philippine Army.

According to Capt. Eduardo Precioso, Jr., head, 3rd Infantry Division Public Affairs Office (DPAO), the new soldiers were enlisted into the ranks of the 3rd Infantry (Spearhead) Division during the graduation ceremony and Ceremonial Entrustment of Firearms held yesterday, October 10 at Camp Peralta. The newly enlisted soldiers are the members of the Candidate Soldiers “MATABAT” (Marangal, Tapat sa Bayan at Tungkulin) Classes 447, 448 and 449 – 2017 who will be deployed to sustain peace and development in Central and Western Visayas. They have completed the six-month rigid training for Candidate Soldier Course (CSC) cross trained with Jungle Warfare Mountain Operation Course (JWMOC), conducted at the 3rd Division Training School (3DTS).

The ceremony was witnessed by Honorable Mac Arthur Valdemar, Municipal Mayor of Jamindan, Capiz; parents and friends of the new soldiers.

Topping the graduates is Mario Cablas, resident of Barangay Tinaan Norte, Leon, Iloilo, who received the Commander, 3rd Infantry Division Award for as top of 77 - Class 447– 2017 with a General Point Average of 90.10% in all evaluated subjects both academic and non-academic in the said training.

Kem Suico of Barangay Bug-ang, Toboso, Negros Occidental and Mark Paulo Alcade of New Abra, Matalam, North Cotabato also received the same award for topping the 76 – Class 448 and 86 – Class 448 -2017 respectively. Suico garnered a General Point Average of 90. 59%, while Alcalde earned GPA of 88.07% in both academic and non-academic aspects of the training.

While the Chief of Staff, 3ID Awards went to Danilo Cerbas Jr., of Barangay Agdayao, Passi, Iloilo; Fernan Juanito of Barangay Medina, Madalag, Aklan; and Paquito Peñafiel, Jr. of Barangay Agdahon, Passi, Iloilo for graduating Number 2 in Class 447-2017, Class 448 - 2017 and Class 449 - 2017, respectively.

Recipients of the Commandant, 3rd Division Training School Awards were Junry Malait of Barangay San Jose, Dingle, Iloilo, Gerbert Panes of Barangay Ardemil, Sara, Iloilo and Jemar Jaque of Apas, Cebu City for graduating Number 3 in Class 447 - 2017, Class 448 – 2017 and Class 449 - 2017 respectively.

For obtaining the highest rating in Physical Fitness Test throughout the duration of the training, the Physical Proficiency Awards went to Albert Armada for Class 447 – 2017, Tamer Maceda for Class 448 – 2017 and Louie Zonio for Class 449 – 2017.

MGen Jon Aying, Commander, 3ID, reminded the newly graduated soldiers that the firearms entrusted to them signify their mandate and responsibility to protect the populace and perform their commitment to the stakeholders.

He also encouraged the new privates to be the epitome of excellent, professional, efficient, responsive and competent soldiers produced by the Division Training School. “You must prove to the people that you are worthy to be called as their Army since the true measurement of your competency is when you are in the actual battle fighting against the enemies who are spreading violence and terror in the communities. You should also fight for what is right and truth. You should fight for the good, peace and prosperity of our beloved nation,” MG Aying stressed.*
