Isabela Tigkalalag Fest Relaunch
Isabela Mayor Joselito Malabor on October 9, 2017 announced that the relaunch of the Tigkalalag Festival will be on October 31-November 2, 2017.
He said that municipal government is preparing for the activity to make the relaunch of the said festival grand and memorable.
The Tigkalalag festival has been shelved in the past four years due to a change in the leadership of the municipal government.
He recalled that the Tigkalag festival has become a trademark for the town.
Malabor said that the Tigkalalag festival conceptualized the Filipino culture of celebrating the All Souls’ Day and All Saints’ Day.
“It is basic Filipino culture and practically all of us celebrate the occasion,” he said.
Malabor stressed that it is also during this occasion that family members go back to their hometown and reunite with their family members.
For this year, Malabor said that part of the celebration is a contest of cooking native delicacies like suman, puto among others.
“We will promote our very own native delicacies,” he stressed.
He recalled that the Tigkalalag festival which he has suggested during the time of his elder brother, the late Provincial Board Member Renato Malabor as mayor of the town won the best in festival dance several times during the Panaad celebration.
He also pointed out that during the Tigkalalag festival many tourists both domestic and foreign go to the town to watch the festival dance.
Among the initial activities lined up for the Tigkalalag festival are the photo booth contest and opening of local delicacies food festival and festival dance contest (school category) on October 31, 2017 and on November 1, 2017 will be the pop dance contest in the morning and the search for Tigkalalag Queen in the evening.
November 2, 2017 activities will start with a concelebrated mass and festival dance contest (barangay category) in the afternoon.*
