ACT-CIS Prexy Survives Slay Try
The president of Anti-Crime and Terrorism-Community Investigative Support (ACT-CIS) Party-list and a businessman survived an assassination attempt along Liroville Subdivision (near Aboy’s Restaurant) at Goldenfield Commercial Complex, Barangay Singcang-Airport, Bacolod City around 3:10 a.m. yesterday, Tuesday.
Senior Inspector Wilfredo Benoman Police Station 8 chief identified the victim as Joseph Nazareno, 45, married, of Lizares Subdivision, Barangay Taculing. He was unhurt but his gray Montero Sport was damaged with several gunshot holes on its windshield and side.
Nazareno said in an interview that he just gassed out from a gasoline station at Magsaysay-Lacson Streets and was on his way to Goldenfield Commercial Complex when he noticed a white Montero tailing him. He gave way as it seemed to overtake, but when it passed him bullets rained on his car.
The Montero following him made a sudden stop in front of his, and running on reverse mode, continued to shoot him. He then maneuvered to escape from the scene.
He was able to get the conduction sticker or plate number of the Montero and is going to check it out at LTO.
He disclosed that at least six suspects are out to kill him with yet unknown reason. He suspects the “gun-for-hire” comes from the town of Pototan, Iloilo province.
One motive, he said, might be his involvement in the volunteer group CIS which helps curb criminality in Bacolod City and Negros Occidental.*(Cyrus M. Garde)
