CHED urged to fasttrack BCC’s free tuition
For the benefit of those who want to pursue college education but could not afford tuition fees, and of students currently enrolled at Bacolod City College College (BCC), members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod of Bacolod, through a resolution by Councilor Caesar Distrito, are requesting the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) to fasttrack BCC’s accreditation.
According to Distrito, earlier this year, CHED and Department of Budget and Management (DBM) had released the guidelines on the granting of free tuition to students in state universities and colleges.
Considering that BCC, being one of the locally funded colleges in the city, applied for the accreditation in order for its students to avail of the free tuition grant of the national government.
As a matter of fact, the administrator and staff of BCC had already submitted the necessary requirements for accreditation, and that CHED has already inspected BCC last October.*(Edith B. Colmo)
