Negros First Men’s Open Finals Set Nov.26

After 2 months of temporary postponement, the Negros First DFL Men’s Open Championship finally got the nod to push for the Villa Angela FC- STI-West Negros University finals on November 26, 2017 at 3PM at the Pontevedra Football Field.

This was confirmed by Negros Occidental Football Association General-Secretary Ronald Allan Treyes – who reiterated that they are trying to achieve the objective of Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. and NOFA President Ricky Yanson to promote football in our province.

“Of course for our youth, that they can see what they can be in the future and see the importance of their grassroots training,” added Treyes. “This provincial league features a unique format of competition where the eliminations were held in different cities for the north and south divisions. This is to spread the games in other areas in the province in order for those who can’t watch the AFC and PFL games in Bacolod get the chance to witness good football,” he explained.

It was recalled that both teams earned the right to play in the finals after they conquered the 2-leg semi-final matches staged in September. STI-WNU defeated La Carlota City FC at the latter’s turf while Villa Angela FC triumphed over San Carlos City FC.

Meanwhile, the San Carlos City FC-La Carlota FC battle for third will be at 1PM.*
