12th Organic Farmers’ Festival Opens Tomorrow

The 12th Negros Island Organic Farmers Festival (NIOFF) will open tomorrow, November 22 at the Provincial Capitol Grounds.

This year’s four-day celebration is hosted once again by the Province of Negros Occidental with the theme, “Go Organic for Health and Prosperity”.

The event will highlight various exhibits of organic products and by-products, as well as showcase sustainable innovations and technologies practiced by different farmer-producers and advocates.

Thousands of organic agriculture advocates, entrepreneurs, and other stakeholders including farmers/producers, exhibitors, academe, consumers and guests coming from different municipalities and cities of the Negros Island and from other regions of the country are expected to join in various activities.

Relevant symposia and various topics with various international and local speakers, starting on the first day will include: Stem Cell Enhancing “Biblical Diet and Functional Foods”; The World and Asia Organic Movement in the Era of Organic 3.0 to be conducted by the event’s keynote speaker, Dr. Zhou Zejiang, President of the Asia Federation of Organic Agriculture Movement.

Also, Department of Agriculture (DA) Secretary Emmanuel Piñol, DA Under Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat, and Negros Oriental Acting Governor Edward Mark Macias were invited by the organizers to grace the said occasion.*(Capitol News)
