Events: UNO-R BGAAI Holds General Homecoming

The Blue and Gold Alumni Association, Inc (BGAAI) will have its General Alumni Homecoming on September 29, 2012. The activity will start with a Concelebrated Mass at the Oratory of St. Nicolas of Tolentino at 8 am and will be followed by a motorcade around the city streets. Luncheon program and election of officers will be at L’Fisher Hotel likewise, awarding and testimonial dinner will also be in the same venue.

This year’s distinguished alumni are S/Supt. Milko Lirazan of NOPPO (Crimi-nology Batch ’80); Angelus Calansingin Diamante, Ph.D (HS Batch ’73); Mary Ann M. Alisbo, MAN (HS Batch ’87); and Raceme C. Erasmo, MD (HS Batch ’72).

One hundred eighteen student leaders of UNO-Re-coletos finished their annual leadership training-workshop conducted by the office of Student Affairs. The 3-day annual training-workshop was held in the university campus last June 4-6, 2012.

Discussions about the self, the community and leadership were the main topics of the training. Speakers were: Rev. Fr. Cornelio Moral, OAR on the Recoletos Vision-Mission; Mrs. Mely Flores on Community Extension Programs; Mr. Junnel Lupo - leadership; and Dr. Carlos Legaspi, Jr. on self assessment.

The University of Negros Occidental Faculty Employees Mutual Aid Association, MPC held the culmination of its 2nd Season Bowling Tournament last May 30, 2012 at the Lopue’s East Bowling Lanes. The "White Team" emerged as Champion while Yellow, Pink and Blue emerged as 1st, 2nd and 3rd runners up.Named as top 5 female players are: Lilibeth Hablo (pink); Barbara Cordova (Pink); Judy Mendoza (white); Ma. Judy Legaspi (yellow); and Dr. Angelus Diamante (yellow). The top five male players are: Engr. Noli Ortiz (Blue); Dean Christopher Taclobos (white); Rey Montinola (white); Antonio Gargarita (yellow) and Peter Jaena (white).

The University of Negros Occidental Recoletos (UNO-R) College of Commerce former Student Assistants (SA) organized the first reunion of Student Assistants together with their families last May 26, 2012 at Mambukal Health Resort in Murcia, Negros Occidental. The gathering was attended by 12 Student Assistants in the period from 1979 to 1987 and coming from Luzon and the Visayas region. A fruitful sharing of experiences cherished happy moments, remembering supportive professor and individual mechanism to survive especially for food and transportation during their school days. Furthermore, the activity serves as a venue where each of the attendee knows each other’s economic and social status.

The 2011 Southeast Asian Games RP women’s beach volleyball campaigner in Indonesia led Central Philippine University (CPU) team to capture this year’s 9th National Women Beach Volleyball Tournament at Villa Regatta Resort in Iloilo City during the weekend.

RP team campaigner Jovelyn Gonzaga teamed up with Viola Ceballos defeated University of St. La Salle team A of former RP youth team member Patty Orendain and Beauty Denila, 21-19, 21-19 to bag the title and top cash prize and trophy.
