Business: DPWH to Conduct New Study on Panay-Negros Bridge

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is set to conduct a "full-blown" feasibility study on the proposed Panay-Guimaras-Negros Bridges so it can update the old version.

Iloilo Rep. Jerry Treñas, who attended a Liberal Party provincial convention in Talisay City Saturday, said he was informed that the DPWH will conduct an updated feasibility study on the cost of the bridges that will connect the three islands, and it’s going to be a "full blown" feasibility study.

Malacañang spokesman Edwin Lacierda bared that a feasibility study on the planned Bacolod-Guimaras-Iloilo City bridge network is being conducted, but is by no means a done deal yet. Lacierda, who was accompanied by Deputy Palace spokesperson Abigail Valte and a staffer in the office, Justin Gatuslao, son of former Deputy Political Affairs honcho Antonio Gatuslao under the former PGMA administration, said the feasibility study is being by under the National Economic Developoment Authority (NEDA), under the Public-Private Partnership Center (PPC) overall program, is not yet finished and therefore, no decisions on the actual bridge building has been done yet.
