Local News: Commemoration of Church Worker’s Death Slated
The Philippine Independent Church (PIC) and various rights and sectoral organizations including alliances are set to commemorate the second anniversary of multi-faceted church worker, the late Benjie Bayles, Thursday, June 14, this month. Bayles’death anniversary is the second year comme-moration.
The various sectors and human rights organization organized under Task Force Bayles, also recalled the continuing cases of human rights violations including the state’s travesty of justice in Negros Island, Fred Caña, the human rights alliance Karapatan-Negros, spokes-man said.
Local News: Drivers, Allies Hold Protest Action Today
Drivers joined in by various sectoral groups and associations, belonging to the militant national democratic organizations, will carry out a protest action, consisting of a march and then upon reaching the Fountain of Justice, a rally today in protest against the spiralling and unstoppable increases in the prices of oil products which have gone month after month unabated.

Local News: Fact-Finding Mission Relates Ordeal During 2-Day Incident
Leaders of the human rights groups, Karapatan-Negros, Bayan Negros, the National Federation of Sugar Workers (NFSW) and the Rural Missionaries of the Philippines (RMP) and the Northern Negros Alliance of Human Rights Human Rights Advocates (NNAHRA) bared what they emphasized as the full report of their fact-finding mission, conducted in Purok Mangga, Barangay Lopez-Jaena, Sagay City as a harrowing and danger-filled experience, in a press conference yesterday at the Negros Press Club building.
The mission took place Thursday and Friday last week.
