Charcoal Maker Wounded in Shooting

Two charcoal makers in Murcia were wounded in a shooting incident about 9:45PM, Sunday in the town.

Police identified the victims as Alfredo Altares, 43, and Dominador Nipy, 55, both of Purok Daisy, Hacienda Villasor, Brgy. San Miguel who sustained multiple gunshot wounds on the different parts of their body from unidentified firearm.

An estimated seven million pesos (P7M) worth of shabu was confiscated in another bigtime Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency 6 (PDEA6) buy bust operation at downtown Bacolod City, yesterday afternoon.

PDEA6 regional director Paul Ledesma said 36-year old Edgardo Morales Justo alias Rey F. Roman, married, owner of a fighting cock breeding farm in Barangay Sta. Cruz in Murcia town, was nabbed in a buy bust operation at 2PM yesterday at Gaisano City Bacolod’s parking lot.

PDEA operatives were able to recover shabu in sachets stuffed inside several pairs of shoes and sandals all estimated to be about a kilo with street value at P7 million.

Also the marked money used in the buy bust, and Justo’s black Isuzu Dmax vehicle.

The drugs were shipped from Manila through LBC, similar to various cases of drug shipment that were also busted by PDEA recently in Bacolod and elsewhere in the country.

Charges for violation of Sections 5 (sale) and 11 (possession) of Republic Act (RA) 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are being filed against Justo.

NPAs Attack Transloading Station

About 25 men claiming to be members of the New People’s Army (NPA) swooped down a sugarcane transloading station in Sta. Ana, Brgy. Mabini in Escalante City Sunday night.

Supt. Alex Batiles, Escalante PNP chief said the rebels blasted a crane truck using improvised explosives devices (IED), and caused damages to the scale house platform used in weighing loaded cargo trucks, and the core laboratory.

A Fuso hauler truck was also damaged when it was fired upon by the suspects who also disarmed security guards.

Cops Eye Extortion in Transloading ‘Bombing’

Police investigators in the province are looking into the possibility of extortion as one of the motives in the alleged bombing of Lopez Sugar Corporation transloading by suspected rebels, Sunday evening in Escalante City.

PSSupt. Milko D. Lirazan, Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO) director said 16 men armed with long and short firearms broke in to the transloading station located beside the national highway in Sitio Santa Ana, Brgy. Mabini about 9:45PM, Sunday.

Jealousy Moves 2 Women to Attack Each Other

Police authorities in Himamaylan City are investigating the case of two "jealous" women who reportedly attacked each other Wednesday inside the Himamaylan Central School.

Himamaylan’s rescue unit informed PO3 Freddie Z. Pabilona, duty field investigator, with PO3 Vincent B. Limaco, that Ma. Fe Malata, 47, of Nasug-ong in Brgy. Caradio-an, and 44-year old Leonila Magtulis, of Sitio Wayang, Brgy. 3 were injured due to stabbing.
