In Isabela Town TORNADO STRIKES 106 Houses Damaged by Twister

Around 1:20 pm of October 22, 2014, a devastating tornado (buhawi) struck Barangay Cansalungon of Isabela town in Southern Negros Occ. leaving 36 totally destroyed and 70 partially damaged houses, mostly made of light materials.

The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office extended food assistance and tarpaulins to affected families.

The PDRRMC has identified damages in the public market, health center and portions of school infrastructures. Two persons were injured but they were immediately attended by local health personnel.

The Local Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (LDRRMC) responded immediately and brought affected families to Cansalongon Elementary School for temporary shelter.

Gov. Alfredo G. Marañon, Jr. instructed Liane Garcia, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer to continue monitoring and providing assistance to the affected families.(Capitol News)

Cop Hurt as MC Hits Woman Crossing the Road

A police officer was hurt when he accidentally hit a crossing woman about 3:40PM, Wednesday along the national highway in Brgy. Mabini, Pulupandan.

Investigation revealed, SPO1 Alfredo Chavez Jr, of Negros Occidental Police Public Safety Company member was on board his Kawasaki Rouser 135 CC with plate number 2014FO and traveling from North to South when he accidentally bumped a crossing pedestrian.

Driver of the tricycle who accidentally hit a 3-year old girl in Hinigaran voluntarily turned himself in following the incident Monday along Kilometer 57 in the said town.

PO2 Jecon Nermal with PO3 Joey Genterola conducted the initial investigation on the case and identified the victim as Jamaica Nanas, of Brgy. Narauis who was crossing the highway when hit by the tricycle driven by Randolph Navarro, 40, of Brgy. Nanunga.

Councilor Loses Valuables in Heist

More than 100,000 pesos worth of valuables were lost from a Hinigaran councilor when their house was entered by unidentified suspect about 6:30PM, Sunday.

Police report said Sangguniang Bayan Walter Uychocde called the local authorities that their house at Carmenville Subdivision, Brgy. 3, Hinigaran was forcibly entered by the suspect passing through their kitchen door, to the study room and the master’s bedroom where most of the items were stolen.

Brothers Face Parricide Raps

Two brothers in Moises Padilla are facing parricide charges for reportedly attacking their older sibling to death about 8PM, Sunday at Brgy. Montilla.

Reports said Jolises Miguel, 45, single and farm worker succumbed to multiple hack wounds on his body allegedly inflicted by his younger siblings Vicente and Claudio using a one foot-nine inches bladed weapon.

The brothers are residents of Sitio Tiguisan, Brgy. Montilla and were arrested by members of the Philippine Army based at Brgy. Montilla Detachment.
