NPA Slams Killing of Bayan Muna Organizer, Other Civilians

The New People’s Army-Leonardo Panaligan Command (NPA-LPC) keeps blaming the Armed Forces of the Philippine (AFP) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) for the killing of civilians in Guihulngan City in Negros Oriental.

In a statement to the media, Ka JB Regalado, LPC spokesperson said, innocent civilians are now getting the brunt of the “revenge” of the military and the police for the ambush last month that killed a police chief and five other cops of Guihulngan.

Aying Thumbs Down NPA Ambush Victory Claim

Major General Jon Aying, 3rd Infantry Division commander based in Jamindan, Capiz downplayed the claim of New People’s Army (NPA) that their ambush of Guihulngan City policemen in Sitio Mandi-i, Barangay Magsaysay, Guihulngan, Negros Oriental “was a victory for the people”.

In an interview with Sagay City-based Hapi Radio dyAG, Aying said their (NPA) claim that it was the victory of the people “is contradicting their own cause and motives”.

Old woman killed road mishap

An old woman was killed when bumped by a dump truck as she crossed the road in Barangay San Miguel, Bacong town around 8:15 p.m. Wednesday.

Police identified the victim as Epifania Lim Briones, 79 years old, single, resident of the place.

She sustained head and body injuries when dragged by a dump truck driven by Jose Jerry Esplaguera Anticristo, 52 years old of Barangay Motong in Dumaguete City in Negros Oriental.

She was rushed to the nearby hospital but was declared dead on arrival by attending physician.

Firearms, ammos seized in raid

Several firearms and ammunitions were confiscated in two separate raids in Tanjay City and Amlan town in Negros Oriental Wednesday.

Tanjay PNP served a search warrant to Ricardo Santurina, Jr., 37, “Alyas Johnny” at his residence in Sitio Bolon, Barangay Sta. Cruz Nuevo, Tanjay around 6:20 a.m. Wednesday.

Man shot dead inside his house

A man who was entering his house was shot dead by unidentified suspect at Barangay 9, Tanjay City, Negros Oriental past 12 midnight Tuesday.

Police identified the victim as Leopoldo Retes, 55 years old.

He sustained gunshot wound in the chest and was rushed to Urgent Care Unit of Tanjay, but was declared dead on arrival by attending physician.

The suspect was already waiting for the victim in the area and immediately fled after the crime.

Tanjay PNP is investigating the shooting to determine the motive and possible identification of the suspect.*
