Aying Thumbs Down NPA Ambush Victory Claim

Major General Jon Aying, 3rd Infantry Division commander based in Jamindan, Capiz downplayed the claim of New People’s Army (NPA) that their ambush of Guihulngan City policemen in Sitio Mandi-i, Barangay Magsaysay, Guihulngan, Negros Oriental “was a victory for the people”.

In an interview with Sagay City-based Hapi Radio dyAG, Aying said their (NPA) claim that it was the victory of the people “is contradicting their own cause and motives”.

Drug Pusher, Thief Shot Dead by Riding-in-tandem in Dumaguete

A drug pusher and thief was shot dead by two unidentified suspects in Upper Luke Wright along corner Real Street, Barangay Poblacion 2, Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental around 6:30 p.m. Monday.

The victim was identified as Noel Bangkal Henson, 47, single, “Alyas Pakwel,” of Colon Street, Dumaguete City. The victim sustained two gunshot wounds in the body and one gunshot wound in the head.

Drunken Man Drowns

A drunk person who was passing a bridge in Purok Apitong, Barangay Tubtuban, Sibulan town, Negros Oriental was drowned after he fell to the bridge around 9:30 p.m. Monday.

The victim was identified as Anthony Telar Arbon, 52, married, of Purok 7, Barangay Boloc-boloc, Sibulan town.

Police operatives said they received information on the said time and immediately responded to the area.

Trike Driver Shot Dead

A tricycle driver was shot dead by unidentified suspect in Sitio Habag, Barangay Martilo, La Libertad town, Negros Oriental, around 1:45 a.m. Tuesday.

Police Senior Inspector Enrique Asonio, La Libertad police chief identified the victim as Remie Domen Faburada, 38, married, of Sitio Lamacan in Barangay Malusay in Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental.

Asonio said the victim was driving his tricycle with two female passengers to convey them to Jimalalud town from Guihulngan City passing La Libertad town.

Ambushed Arpon Buried in Hinobaan

Former Guihulngan City PNP chief, Superintendent Arnel Arpon was buried at noon Saturday at Hinobaan public cemetery, the place of his wife Analyn, where they also reside

Thousands of mourners attended the burial after a mass at St. Michael Parish Church in Hinobaan town that started at 9:30 in the morning.

Police Chief Supt. Edmund Gonzales, the Negros Island Region (PRO-18) Regional Director led other police officers during the burial.

Arpon’s classmates at the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) Class 1998 were the pall bearers.
