RD Capa Inspects 5th District of Negros Occ.

Chief Supt. Conrado S. Capa, Police Regional Office 18 Regional Director and Sr. Supt. William Señoron, NOCPPO Officer-in-Charge, inspected the police stations of Negros Occidental Provincial Police Office (NOCPPO) on March 7.

‘Isabela is Not an EWA’

Negros Island Police Regional Director Chief Supt. Conrado Capa yesterday said that there “is no need to place Isabela under election watch list area (EWA) of the Commission on Elections (COMELEC).

Capa together with NOPPO Provincial Director Sr. Supt. William Señoron called on Isabela Mayor Enrique Montilla III at the Isabela Municipal Hall yesterday.

He added that the recent incident in Isabela is not political in nature.


Philippine National Police chief Director General Ricardo Marquez has approved the administrative relief of the Chief of the Firearms and Explosives Office (FEO) and 14 subordinate personnel in connection with the ongoing investigation into alleged irregularities involving the processing of License to Own and Possess Firearms (LTOPF).

Chief Superintendent Elmo Francis Sarona, erstwhile Chief FEO has been relieved from his post while undergoing investigation.

The Chief PNP has designated Police Senior Superintendent Cesar Hawthorne Binag as FEO Officer-in-Charge.

Man Nabbed in Pulupandan Checkpoint with Firearm, Shabu

A Bacolod resident yielded a firearm and prohibited drugs and paraphernalia in a checkpoint Wednesday morning, at Crossing Pulupandan.

The suspect was identified as John Rey Panaligan, 32, of Barangay 35, Bacolod City.

Panaligan was riding his motorcycle entering the town of Pulupandan, Negros Occidental when flagged down by police at Crossing Pulupandan, Wednesday morning.

Confiscated from him was one homemade .357 with ammunition and tooter and sachet of shabu from a glass case and P10, 595.00 cash.

A Peña is Backing Marañon Re-election Bid

The last man expected to support Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr.’s re-election bid confirmed that he indeed will be supporting the governor.

Pulupandan Mayor Miguel Peña, a first termer mayor and eldest son of former Pulupandan mayor Magdaleno Peña, joins the growing list of mayors from the rival Love Negros Team who wants Marañon to run unopposed in the 2016 polls.

The younger mayor also said he will support Maranon’s vice gubernatorial bet, 4th district Congressman Jeffrey Ferrer.
