Moises Padilla ‘Boycotts’ Panaad

Moises Padilla town will boycott this year’s edition of the Panaad Festival in Bacolod City set to kick-off tomorrow, April 22.

Ma. Lina Sanogal, Festival Director yesterday said that the municipal government has not yet informed the provincial government the reason why they won’t join the celebration.

“We did not receive any letter from them but the town’s representatives informed us that they will not open their pavillion nor participate in any competition.

Police Seizes Firearm, Shabu in Raid

Police operatives seized firearm, bullets, suspected shabu and dried marijuana leaves in a raid at a house located in Barangay 3 Poblacion, Moises Padilla town, Negros Occidental around 9:49 p.m. Monday.

Senior Inspector Allan Reloj, Moises Padilla PNP chief identified the suspect as Jefe Letegio Baladhay, 34, married, resident of the place.

The raid was conducted through a search warrant issued by Judge Cyclamen Jison-Fernandez of the Regional Trial Court, Branch-63, La Carlota City dated August 3, 2017.

Cop Shot Dead Civil Security

A civil security of Moises Padilla town was shot dead by a policeman in civilian clothes in a vulcanizing shop along Caduhada Street in Barangay Robles, La Castellana at about 7:50 in the morning yesterday.

Police chief inspector Alan Gary Resuma, La Castellana PNP chiefsaid the victim was Jared Lavega, 20, of Moises Padilla. He sustained multiple gunshot wounds in the body. He died on the spot.

The suspect was identified as PO3 Jose Michael Muñez, 33 years old and resident of La Castellana and assigned at the town’s police force.

Malabor Axes 200 JO Workers

More than 200 job order (JO) workers of the municipal government of Isabela were terminated effective today, April 21, 2017.

In an executive order issued yesterday, Mayor Joselito Malabor directed all department heads to terminate their services.

Malabor assumed the post after Mayor Enrique Montilla III died of cardiac arrest Thursday.

He took his oath Monday with Negros Occidental Governor Alfredo Marañon together with number one councilor Henry Foscablo who assumed as vice mayor.

The terminated JOs were appointees of Montilla.

SPARU Shoots Farmer in Moises Padilla

Alleged members of Special Partisan Unit (SPARU) of the New People’s Army (NPA) shot dead a farmer in Sitio Haroy, Barangay Montilla in Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental around 6:15 p.m. Monday.

Senior Inspector Allan Reloj, Moises Padilla PNP chief identified the victim as Ronnie Mamella, of legal age, resident of the place.

He sustained multiple gunshot wounds in the body and died on the spot from yet undetermined caliber of firearm. The suspects immediately fled from the area.
