La Castellana Centennial celebration presents Bailes de Luces tonight

La Castellana Mayor Rhumyla Nicor- Mangilimutan said, the centennial celebration of the town has been peaceful with no major incidents marring the festivities.

Mangilimutan said that the celebration started last December 14, 2017.

Today, January 5 is the culmination, marking the 100 years of the town with the signing of the proclamation dated January 5, 1918.

“The clebration has been very peaceful,” Mangilimutan told reporters.

She added to ensure peace and order all throughout the festivities, the local police force has been conducting saturation drive.

Lady mayor defends pa on graft charges

La Castellana Mayor Rhumyla Nicor-Mangilimutan yesterday defended his father, former Mayor Alberto Aguilar Nicor Jr., who is facing three graft charges before the Sandiganbayan Third Division due to alleged anomalous issuance of mayor’s permits to himself and his wife back in 2013.

“It’s good faith on his part when he issued a mayor’s permit to his own business and that of my mother,” Mangilimutan said.

She also said, the hollow block business of her mother Noemi “was a business put up by the cooperative and funded by the provincial government.”

Student Dies in Road Crash

A working student of Bacolod City College was killed when bumped and overran by a dump truck along Alijis Road, Barangay Alijis, Bacolod City past 2:00 p.m. Monday.

The victim was identified as Dennis Destor, Jr., 23, single, of Purok Paho, Barangay Taculing, Bacolod.

He sustained head and body injuries and died on the spot.

The victim was riding his motorcycle when overran by the dump truck driven by Joer Navarro of La Castellana.

The suspect voluntarily surrendered to Police Station 7 who investigated the incident.*



3-Year-Old Hit by Bus

A 3-year-old girl was rushed to the hospital in Bacolod City after she was bumped by a Ceres bus at Hacienda Hanoban 1, Barangay Sag-ang, La Castellana town, at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.

La Castellana police identified the victim as Bernaline Oliveros Buluron, resident of the said place. She suddently crossed the road.

She sustained injuries and was rescued by the town’s MDRRMC and brought to the Municipal Health Clinic.

She was later transferred to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital.

3 Wanted Persons Nabbed

Police authorities in Negros Occidental continue its campaign against wanted persons and add three more, one each in Binalbagan, La Castellana and Cadiz City.

Police Chief Inspector Anthony Grande, Binalbagan PNP police chief identified the suspect as Dennis Haresco, 40, married, of Sitio Alimango, Barangay San Vicente in the town.

He was arrested on Tuesday for violating Section 7 of RA 9262.

His arrest warrant was issued by Judge Lily Villareal Biton of 4th Judicial Region of the Regional Trial Court, Branch-77 in San Mateo, Rizal dated September 28, 2017.
