Bacolod SP Urges Legal Compliance of New BACIWA Wells

The Sangguniang Panglunsod (SP) approved a resolution filed by Councilor Wilson Gamboa, Jr. last July 12, 2017 enjoining the Bacolod City Water District (BACIWA) to comply with all environmental and other related laws in the operation of existing and construction of six (6) new production wells.

The Gamboa Resolution detailed various legal provisions for BACIWA to comply, among others these are, Section 4 of Presidential Decree 1856, Article 13 of the Water Code of the Philippines, Section 26 of the Local Government Code, Section 27 of the Local Government Code.

‘Illegal Drugs Still Rampant in Bacolod’

Despite the daily apprehensions made by the Bacolod City Police Office that netted large volumes of illegal drugs, a police official admitted that the illegal drug trade continues to flourish in the city.

Supt. Noel Polines, BCPO operations officer said “It continues to exist despite our relentless operation.”

Polines said that despite the scarcity of shabu and the apparent increase in its price, “many are still engaged in it.”

There are no more high value targets in the city only those categorized as “street value targets,” he said.

PNP Chief Bato in Negros Today

Philippine National Police (PNP) chief, Director General Ronald ‘Bato’ Dela Rosa is scheduled to arrive today in Negros Occidental with visits to the city’s of Bacolod and Bago.

Senior Insp. Armilyn Vargas, spokesperson of the Police Regional Office-18 (PRO-18) said Dela Rosa will arrive this afternoon at the Bacolod-Silay Airport.

He is scheduled to meet with police officials in the region and will spend the night in Bacolod City.

Architect Dies in Road Crash

An architect was killed when his car bumped the fence of a house in Bangga Akasya in Barangay Luna, Cadiz City Tuesday afternoon.

Chief Inspector Rocky Desear, OIC police chief of Cadiz Police Station, said the victim was Albert Advincula Catapang, 50, married, of Block 5, Lot 19, Hillside Subdivision, Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City.

Catapang was driving a Toyota Vios Sedan bound for Escalante City when he accidentally crossed the opposite lane and bumped the bamboo fence of Jinky Jaspe’s house and a mango tree.

DILG Usec Hinlo Confirms Arrival of Marawi Evacuees in Bacolod

Now it can be confirmed that there are evacuees from besieged Marawi City who has arrived in Bacolod City.

The confirmation comes from local government Undersecretary Jesus Hinlo who met Muslim leaders led by Ontao Sacar Monday with city administrator John Orola.

Hinlo, however, did not say how many individuals are in the city to flee the violence in their war-torn city.
