‘Isabela is Not an EWA’
Negros Island Police Regional Director Chief Supt. Conrado Capa yesterday said that there “is no need to place Isabela under election watch list area (EWA) of the Commission on Elections (COMELEC).
Capa together with NOPPO Provincial Director Sr. Supt. William Señoron called on Isabela Mayor Enrique Montilla III at the Isabela Municipal Hall yesterday.
He added that the recent incident in Isabela is not political in nature.
Capa cited the recent raid conducted by suspected New People’s Army (NPA) rebels on a house owned by Barangay Captain Aurelio Tolero in Barangay Mansablay.
However, he said that additional policemen will be deployed to the Isabela Police Station.
He said this is to augment the existing police force in the locality to ensure peace and security in the area.
“But as far as the political situation in the locality it is stable, so there is no need to place the area under Comelec watchlist,” Capa added.
Capa said he also visited the towns of Pulupandan and Pontevedra to complete his courtesy call on local chief executives in the province under the newly created Negros Island Region (NIR).
Capa is the first police regional director of NIR or Region 18.*
