Sta. Rosa Kagawad Shot Dead

Two of the four suspects shot dead the Number 2 Kagawad of Barangay Sta. Rosa in Murcia town, Negros Occ. around 7:20 p.m. Monday.

Senior Inspector Ronald Santillan, Murcia PNP chief identified the victim as Celso Bernabe Menoso, 53, of Sitio Wawa, Barangay Sta. Rosa, Murcia.

Menoso was watching television in their house that also also serves as a store or eatery serving “batchoy”.

The victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds in the head and body and was rushed to Bacolod Adventist Medical Center in Bacolod City but declared dead-on-arrival.

The suspects used .9mm and .45 calibers of firearms in the shooting.

The victim’s wife, Aida, 52, told police investigators that the suspects went to their store allegedly to eat batchoy but later changed their mind and left.

Minutes later, two of them went inside and shot the victim several times. The victim was able to run towards their kitchen where his wife was washing dishes and hugged her before falling down.

The suspects hurriedly saddled at the back of the two motorcycles driven by their companions and fled.

Santillan said the suspects may be hired killers.

Village chief Bejamin Parreño, Jr. said that the victim was a good man. He was also the bookkeeper of a sugar planter in the area.

His wife also said he had no enemies in the place.

Police is still investigating the motive of the killing. Recovery from the crime scene were six (6) empty shells.*(CMGarde)
