Gustilo Pushes Ultron Extra to Semis

Arvin Gustilo’s triple pushed Ultron Extra to the semi-finals by beating at the expense of Ultron Touring, 89-86 in the 36 and above Fil-Sino Inter-Color Petron Cup 2017 at Po Hang Gym of Bacolod Tay Tung High School.

Gustilo knocked down a cold blooded top of the key triple with 3 seconds left to complete the come from behind victory. It was no easy victory for Ultron Extra as it had to endure several double digit deficits in the 2nd half.

Ultron Touring held a 66-56 advantage going to the 4th quarter with Dr. Emil Guanzon and Harry Siendo kept Ultron Touring’s lead at double digit as Guanzon connected with his outside shooting while Siendo scored on several inside incursions.

But Siendo after 9 points in the quarter fouled out leaving the door open for Ultron Extra to launch a comeback engineered by Michael Posa, Gustilo and Efraim Valencia to grab the lead at 86-84.

Alex Fernandez tied the game at 86-all but Ultron Extra run down the clock leading to a Gustilo winning shot.

Ultron Extra took a 26-21 opening quarter lead as Kendrick Deloria and Gustilo combined for 20 points. Dr. Emil Guanzon connected on 4 triples to keep Ultron Touring within striking distance.

Fernandez scored 10 points to lift Ultron Touring in the driver’s seat in the 2nd half, 43-42. Valencia scored 10 points for Ultron Extra.

Mark Cueva and Edward Uy each dropped 8 points to establish a 10- point lead going to the 4th quarter.

Valencia paced Ultron Extra with 27 points; Gustilo added 22; Deloria shot 12, while Brian Tan and Jom Regalado had 6 pts.,

Guanzon finished with 5 triples for 17 points; Siendo added16; Fernandez drilled 12; and Glin Ortaliz with 6.

Sprint 4t Enduro advanced to the semi-finals by pounding Rev-X All Terrain in the 1st 3 quarter for , 101-86 victory in the 35 and below category.

Sprint 4t Enduro tied Rev-X All Trekker at 2-6 at the end of elimination round, but a better quotient push Sprint 4t Enduro to the next round.

Sprint 4t Enduro was led by Robbie Jalandoon with 17 points; Kako Lacson scored 15; while Jason Yap, Sukhraj Sekhon and Brix Arrobang delivered 10 poins each and Ardian Ong and Ritchie Militante with 9 points apiece.

RJ Iligan finished with a game-high 30 points for Rev-X All Terrain; Ceazar Tan added 15; Vincent Tan shot 8; while Matthew Yap and Dante Ma with 7 points apiece.* (Cyrus M. Garde)
