Laborer Stabbed Dead

A labourer was stabbed dead by a jobless man during a drinking spree in Salama Beach in Sitio Pondol, Barangay Jugno, Amlan town in Negros Oriental around 4:00 a.m. Wednesday.

The victim was identified as Jundy Alcantara Sombilon, “Alyas Dampoy”, 38, married, laborer, of Purok Molave, Sitio Pondol, Barangay Jugno, Amlan, Negros Oriental.

He sustained multiple fatal stab wounds in the body.

Police identified the suspect as John Paul Onding Uka, 35, single, jobless, of Sitio Pondol, Barangay Jugno, Amlan, Negros Oriental.

He was arrested after a police hot pursuit operation. He also sustained a stab wound on his leg and was brought to Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital for treatment.

Police investigation disclosed that the victimm, together with certain Giovannie Alcantara and Jerome Benlot were drunk while sleeping in the hut near the bay in the beach when suddenly the suspect arrived and had a conversation with Jerome Benlot.

A heated argument followed and awakened the victim who tried to pacify. Benlot alerted the victim that the suspect had a knife on his waist.

The suspect then left them and crossed the river but the victim followed, shouting to provoke the suspect prompting him to go back and engage in a fight.

The victim was lying in the sandy ground when stabbed several times by the suspect. The suspect escaped but was later arrested when pursued by police operatives.*
