PDRRMC Oks P25M for Projects, Anti-Terrorism Campaign

The Negros Occidental Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) has approved a P25 million budget to fund Task Force Buglas projects and activities from July to December 2017, Basic Citizens Emergency Responders Training, and renovations needed for the Provincial Evacuation Center.

The council meeting was held yesterday at the Governor’s Office, Provincial Capitol, presided by Gov. Alfredo Marañon, Jr. as council chairman.

Task Force Buglas was created through an executive order signed by Marañon.

It will ensure the proper coordination of the different agencies to protect Negros Occidental from the threats of terrorism, crime and other lawless elements, as well as provide humanitarian assistance in times of disasters.

It will also focus on educating the community and their participation in the anti-terrorism campaign.

Meanwhile, the Basic Citizens Emergency Responders Training will be held in the municipalities of Hinobaan and Cauayan, and Sipalay City, to be spearheaded by the Philippine Navy and Marine Reserve.

Gov. Marañon said that the cooperation of the community is very important in times of man-made and natural disasters, and there is a need to empower them through information and trainings.

The council also tackled the activities for the National Disaster Resilience Month Celebration this July, with the theme, “4Ks: Kamalayan sa Kahandaan, Katumbas ay Kaligtasan”.

Also present during the meeting were, Board Member Samson Mirhan, chairman of the SP Committee on Disaster Preparedness, Board Member Annabelle Bermudo, ABC Federation president, and Col. Eliezer Losañes of the 303rd Infantry Brigade, among others.*(Capitol News)
