American, Inmate Found Dead

A 48-year old American national was found dead by his girlfriend inside the comfort room of his rented house at Reduble Residence at Zone 3, Calong-Calong, Barangay Singcang-Airport, Bacolod at about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Police Senior Inspector Wilfredo Benoman, Bacolod Police Station 8 chief, identified the victim as Ronald Robert Gaines, single.

When found by his girlfriend, he was in a prone position with his chest facing the toilet bowl. He sustained injury at the back of his head believed to have hit the floor. He also semed to have tried to stand up while still conscious but failed.

His girlfriend, identified as Irene Baguio Flores, 30, single, of Purok Pine Tree, Barangay Bata said that she had access to his rented room because the victim had given her a duplicate key. She said she visits him everyday and that the victim has long suffered from rib injury and gout.

She also revealed that the night prior the incident, he was texting his outbursts of resentment to her regarding their business in the U.S. which is not enough for his living and is delayed in coming.

She immediately reported the incident to Police Station 8 to conduct investigation on the incident.

Recovered at the crime scene were; one USA Passport with no. 511355473 and Philippine Alien Certificate of Registration (Tourist) with SSRN: 14206RG1013143455.

INMATE. An inmate at Sagay City PNP was found dead around 6 a.m. Tuesday.

Chief Inspector Roberto Mansueto, Sagay PNP OIC Police Chief identified the victim as Vicente Pacificador Jortillas, 77, of Barangay Paraiso, Sagay City.

He was facing rape and sexual assault case and was set to be arraigned next week.

Other prisoners even let him stay in bed thinking he was still sleeping during body count.

They rushed him to nearby Lopez Planters Foundation District Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

He was arrested a week ago due to cases filed against him and the Court issued his arrest warrants.

However, he was suffering from mild stroke and was asthmatic, Mansueto said, reasons why they allowed him to sleep outside the cell, separate from other inmates at Sagay City PNP.*(Cyrus M. Garde)
