Another Teener Commits Suicide
Why is suicide now a common incident in Negros?
Another teenager was found dead hanging in a tree, this time beside their house in Barangay Tambojangin in Amlan town, Negros Oriental.
Amlan policemen identified the victim as Robert Bernardo Cuenco, 17, single, minor, of Sitio Dao, BarangayTambojangin in Sitio Dao, BarangayTambojangin, Amlan town.
The victim was reportedly having a drinking spree with his friends at Rochelle Store Monday night.
At about 9:50 p.m. of Sunday, the victim was having a conversation with his younger sister asking her in Visayan (Cebuano) dialect “ganahanan paka makakita nako? (you want to see me still?)”
He also sent her a text message saying, “pakatologon ra nko si mama,” meaning, they should let their grandmother sleep.
She also received another message from the victim, saying, “magpakawala ko karon gabei”.
The next thing was they found him hanging in a jackfruit tree using a nylon rope tied on his neck already lifeless around 5:30 a.m. Monday.
When Amlan cops came, the victim’s body was already transferred inside their house with ligature marks on his neck.
A request was made for post mortem examination to be conducted by Dr. Erick Jude Briones, Municipal Rural Health Officer of Amlan.*(Cyrus M. Garde)
