Fleeing Inmate Shot by Jail Officers

An inmate who bolted jail from Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) in Barangay Handumanan, Bacolod City around 8:14 p.m. last Saturday was shot by pursuing jail guards at dawn yesterday (Monday) at Lacson Street.

Arian Mark Marquez Salaver, alias “Jok-Jok”, of legal age, of Barangay Villamonte, Bacolod City is charged for violation of Section 5, 11 and 12, Article II of RA 9165.

He sustained gunshot wound on his back and is now confined at Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital when spotted by one of the jail guards.

He escaped from BJMP in Barangay Handumanan assisted by his friend who had his motorcycle waiting outside the jail.

His friend was identified as Richville Espinosa, alias “Bulag”, of legal age, of Sitio Tayabas in Zone 15, Talisay City, Negros Occidental.

He was also allegedly arrested by jail authorities and charged correspondingly.

Espinosa drives a green Kawasaki Aura motorcycle where the suspect used to escape to unknown direction.

Initial investigation revealed that there was an activity inside the jail facility when suddenly the suspect climbed the perimeter fence, jumped over and fled.*(CMG)
