Dads Urge Businesses to Provide Seats for Pregnant Clerks

Section 2 of City Ordinance No. 311 Series of 2012 is an Ordinance requiring chairs or benches for use of salespersons in business establishments in Bacolod City. Considering that even pregnant salesladies are required to stand all throughout their work hours without chair or bench nearby where they could sit down in-between hours of duty.

According to Councilor Sonya Verdeflor, this is to protect the rights of pregnant women and the unborn child and to ensure their health, physical condition and survival during child birth. Hence, it is imperative that the Human Resource Management in the malls and business establishments should strictly adhere to the implementation of Sec. 2 of CO No. 311 series of 2002.

Verdeflor also resolved to furnish copies of this Ordinance to Human Resource Management in the city’s malls and business establishments.*(EBC)
