DILG Orders Moises Padilla to Release Ex-Official’s Benefits
The national office of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) has ordered its regional office in the Negros Island Region (R18) to act on the complaint of a former municipal official on the non-release of his benefits by the municipal government.
This was ordered by DILG Undersecretary Austere Panadero, in a letter to NIR regional director Anthony Nuyda dated April 17, 2017, a copy of which was obtained by the Negros Daily Bulletin yesterday.
The letter orders Nuyda to “take appropriate action” on the letter complaint filed by Ian Adrian Villaflor, a former municipal official of the town.
Villaflor had earlier claimed that the municipal government under Mayor Magdaleno Peña has not released any of his remaining benefits due him as a former official.
Villaflor ran and lost to Peña in last year’s election.
“Please coordinate the matter with the concerned local government unit and submit a report the soonest time on actions taken direct to the office of the undersigned copy furnished the letter sender,” the letter stated.
Villaflor, along with former mayor Francisco Nazareno, faces a complaint before the Ombudsman for alleged corruption. Villaflor called the complaint as “political harassment.”*
