Ultron Race Stay Unbeaten in Fil-Sino Basketball

The Ultron Race remained unbeaten after demolishing HTP Dot 4, 58-54, in the 36 and above category of the Fil-Sino Inter-Color Petron Cup basketball tournament at Po Hang gym of Bacolod Tay Tung High School.

Rey Pandoro scored the last 9 points for Ultron Race to defeat HTP Dot 4 in the final quarter.

In fact, HTP Dot 4 held a 20-14 opening quarter lead but Ultron Race force a deadlock at the break at 33-all behind Biboy Yap 7 points, while Richard Co and Joseph Tiu had 6 points apiece.

Toffel Tan and Ronald Despi shared 9 points each for HTP Dot 4 with teammate Lito Dumdum added 8.

A balance offense by Ultron Race gave them the lead at 47-44 even as Tubby Villanueva scored 7 points for HTP Dot 4.

Ultron Race got a big lift from Pandoro when he scored all except 2 points in the payoff quarter.

The closest that HTP Dot 4 got was within a basket as Bobil Alagaban connected on a triple to cut the deficit , 56-54 but Pandoro iced the game with another medium range jumper as Ultron Race remained as the only unbeaten team in the 36 and up division.

Pandoro top scored with 17 points; Rene Miagao added 7 and Richard Co had 8.

Dumdum dropped 14 points for HTP Dot 4; Despi added 11; Toffel Tan drilled 10 and Alagaban with 7 points.

In the other game, Rev –X All Terrain beat Sprint 4t Enduro, 73-62 in the 35 and below category.

The trio of Leo Bat-Og, Joel Masaida and Ceazar Tan combined for 25 points to give Rev-X All Terrain, 41-34 advantage at the break even as Marc Lo had 8 points for Sprint 4t Enduro.

Sprint 4t Enduro cut the deficit at 54-51 behind Jason Yap and Sukhraj Sekhon with 7 and 5 points respectively.

Sprint 4t Enduro could not sustain its rally in the payoff quarter as Brix Arrobang was the only bright spot with 6 points as it could not counter the combined 17 points output by Justin Kilayko, Masadia, Bat-Og and Tan.

Rev-X All Terrain was led by Batog with 18 points; Masadia added 15;Tan scored 13; Kilayko had 19 and RJ Iligan made 7.

Arrobang and Lo hit 12 points each; Yap drilled 10 and Sekhon had 9 points for Sprint 4t Enduro.* (Cyrus M. Garde)
