2 Nabbed with Firearms in Guihulngan and Canlaon Cities
A “Yunit Militia” of the New People’s Army (NPA) and another person were arrested with firearms in Guihulngan and Canlaon cities in Negros Oriental Monday.
In Guihulngan City, the incident happened at Sitio Batong Buang in Barangay Trinidad around 7:36 p.m. Monday.
Superintendent Arnel Arpon was informed by 1Lt Cruz of the 79th Infantry Battalion that operating troops of 79th IB Philippine Army led by 2Lt Danzan Camua, while on combat patrol along the vicinity of place arrested and confiscated the firearms and ammunitions from Pedro Serguelis, of legal age and suspected Yunit Militia of the NPAs.
The suspect reportedly was uncooperative during interrogation.
He was confiscated with one homemade .357 caliber firearm with thirteen (13) live bullets; one homemade shotgun with five live bullets and another pistol homemade shotgun.
In Canlaon City, a person who tried to shoot a city employee while joining a parade for their 50th Charter day was arrested and disarmed around 9:20 a.m. Monday along the national highway in Barangay Mabigo of the city.
Johnny Serdua Cabios, 47, married, of Barangay Budlasan in Canlaon City was arrested by responding police operatives.
Confiscated from him was one .45 caliber with Serial Number CN-00118 with one magazine loaded with four live bullets and one empty shell.
Police said, the suspect approached the victim, Wenceslao Manalo Espino, 45, of Sitio Mangapa in Barangay Masulog also of the city who was attending the parade.
The suspect reportedly arrived and drew his firearm from his waist and pointed it to the victim.
Police Officer 3 Eleuben Bocog arrested the suspect with the firearm.*(CMG)
