Ex-police killed in shoot out

A former policeman was killed after he shot it out with the members of Dumaguete City police in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) around 9:50 p.m. Tuesday.

The incident happened during the buy bust operation at Bishop E.P. Surban Street in Dumaguete, Negros Oriental in front of Holy Child Hospital.

Police operatives identified the victim as Roderick Maquinta, of legal age, dismissed police of Dumaguete.

He sustained gunshot wounds multiple gunshot wounds and was rushed to nearby Holy Child Hospital but died later, according to report.

Police Senior Inspector Ian Paul Arapols led the operation in coordination with PDEA-Negros Oriental.

The suspect was armed with caliber .45, chromed color that resulted to said shooting.

Several items were recovered at the crime scene suspected to be illegal drugs of suspected shabu, others paraphernalia and undetermined cash believed proceeds of selling the illegal drugs.*(CMGarde)
