For December 1 to 31, 2017 only, the City Treasurer’s Office - Land Tax Division of Bacolod City has collected an “unprecedented” P348,062,948 in Real Property Tax (RPT) advance payment for 2018 real property taxes (RPT), as reported by Arlene Memoria, local treasury operations officer to Mayor Evelio Leonardia.

In Dec. 2015, the RPT collection was P237,954,453, while in December 2014, it was P217,580,716; but in December 2017, the Land Tax Division posted big RPT collections on several days.
On Dec. 29 alone, the Land Tax Division collected P60 million, which is the biggest single-day collection for the first time ever, Memoria said.
The next biggest collection is P42 million on Dec. 31; P33 million - Dec. 26; P22 million - Dec. 20; P20 million - Dec. 28; P16 million - Dec. 22; P15 million - Dec. 18; and P13 million—Dec. 30.
Memoria said the December collections represent the bulk of the total RPT collection for the whole year.
City Hall PIO Danny Dancalan quoted Mayor Leonardia: “The overwhelming land tax payment” is a very positive indicator that business confidence is now restored under his administration. We wish to see that business confidence is restored and a climate conducive for business and industry to grow and prosper, is established.” He also thanks the public for their cooperation in “our thrust of making Bacolod more business-friendly.”
“The restoration of business confidence in Bacolod was one of the factors why the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) chose Bacolod as one of the Top 3 Most Business-Friendly LGUs (Local Government Units) in the Philippines for 2017, Leonardia likewise said.*
