Sabillo Set to Test OPBF Light Fly Champ on Feb.17

Champion versus champion are set to clash next month in the light flyweight division.

Reigning Asian Boxing Federation (ABF) champion Merlito “Tiger” Sabillo (27, 13KOs-4-1) is set to test Oriental and Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) title holder Edward Heno (11, 5KOs-0-5) on February 17 at the Gaisano Grand Bacolod Mall, 4PM.

The Toboso-hailed Sabillo, who is also a former WBO world minimumweight champion, is looking forward to clinch the OPBF belt after a unanimous decision loss in the OPBF minimumweight title fight against Ryuya Yamanaka 2 years ago in Japan.

Moreover, the win over Heno will boost Sabillo’s rankings for a possible return to the world title fight.

Meanwhile, the 25-year old Baguio City-native Heno aims to extend his dominance in this weigh class. Heno knocked Japanese Seita Ogido last year in a rematch at the latter’s turf. Their initial face-off for the OPBF light flyweight championship ended on a draw.

This event is presented by Highland International Boxing Promotions and supported by the Singwancha Foundation and sanctioned by the Games and Amusement Board.* (JGToga)
