Half-buried Body Found; Suspects Arrested in Bacolod
A man was found by his relatives half-buried around 9:40 Sunday morning inside the backyard of his neighbor in Andrea Village, Barangay Zone 2, Cadiz City.
Police Superintendent Edel Jose Manzano, Cadiz City PNP chief identified the victim as Alexander Enriquez, 57, married, also resident of the place.
He failed to come home Saturday evening while having a drinking session in the rented house of suspects Leonard Jimenea Benitez, of legal age, ”Alias Oting” and his son, a certain “Cokic”.
They were seen riding in a tricycle which left in haste from their rented house around 8:00 p.m. Saturday. They were later reported to have fled to Bacolod City.
Police authorities also found documents of parole from jail in the house of Leonard Benitez. Their whereabouts are not ascertained as of this moment, Manzano said.
Police investigation disclosed that the wife of the victim was curious when her husband failed to come home that night, so she went to the house of the suspects, knowing he was drinking with them that Saturday night.
The wife, together with her other relatives, searched the area and found a newly half-buried body of the victim in the backyard with the victim’s feet exposed. Police recovered the victim’s slippers, flashlight, broken bottles, iron pipe, spade and other documents.
Manzano said earlier in the day, Monday, he received surrender feeler from the suspects because a former Bacolod police convinced them to do so.
But Police Station 5 under Police Chief Inspector Sherlock Gabana, himself a native of Cadiz City, arrested the suspects in Barangay Granada, Bacolod City around 11:30 on Sunday morning.
The suspects were brought to Cadiz City PNP to be filed with murder case.*
