NegOcc Contingent for WVRAA Leaves Today to Iloilo

More than 700 strong contingents from Negros Occidental will leave Bacolod port today for Iloilo to prepare for the 2018 Western Visaysa Regional Athletic Association scheduled February 18-23 at the Iloilo Sports Complex.

The contingents’ trip will be by 3 batches – first at 6AM followed by 8AM, and the last will be at 10AM.

The Negrense delegation is composed of 519 student-athletes, 75 delegation officials alongside 101 coaches and assistant coaches, 32 chaperones, and 35 trainers which will be billeted at the Lapaz I Elementary School.

Romeo Sison, Sports Coordinator of the Schools Division of Negros Occidental, said that the Negros Occidental will be competing in 15 sports events in the elementary level while 22 for the secondary division.

Sison added that the student-athletes already felt the excitement as they renew their rivalry with long-time competitors Iloilo province.

Moreover, they are also excited to once again wear the ‘Paglaum Blue’ colours in the weeklong competition.

Meanwhile, to ensure that the Negrense delegation is well-supported, the province have allocated Php 12 million budget.*
