Ceres FC Blanks Boeung Ket, 9-0

Typhoon “Basyang” favored the host-team Ceres Negros Football Club as they rained goal after goal against the visiting Boeung Ket FC of Cambodia, 9-0, in the AFC Cup 2018 at the Panaad Park and Stadium on Tuesday.

With only two decent attempts in the first half from the Cambodians, the hosts were unforgiving as forward Takumi Uesato scored in the 14th minute and Bienvenido Maranon followed hitting the net’s back in the 18th.

Uesato hit again in the 21st and Maranon added another with a free kick in the 28th. Spitfire Jose Elmer Porteria sealed a 5-0 lead at half with his tricky moves to make the guests bow and shook their heads going to the dugout.

As ‘Basyang’ made his mild landfall during the second half, Boeung got hit by their own goal for a 6-0 Ceres lead. Carlos de Murga could not be restrained as he unleashed another winner for a 7-nil advantage.

Manny Ott added one in the 80th and Porteria doubled his output in the 84th to give Ceres FC fans a record of sort and a cold, rainy night to remember.

Boeung Ket coach Keo Kosal admitted that his wards were small compared to Ceres, that they missed two of their foreign players due to visa problem and the rain somewhat affected their game.

Coach Risto Vidakovic did not expect the result but it did not surprise him as the team is growing better as days go by. Depending on the availability of his personnel, Risto has proven better than the coaches before him if results are the barometer.

Man of the Match Uesato, an added attraction to a talented bunch, can only say he was a lucky guy in tonight’s match.*
