Sabillo Wishes to Get Back at World Championships

Days to go before his match against defending Champion Edward Heno in Bacolod City, Merlito “Tiger Sabillo” has gone into training with his coach Sonny Villagonzalo for the Oriental Pacific Federation Light Flyweight Title. Heno holds a record of (11W-0L-5D, 5KO’s) while the challenger Sabillo has (24W-4L-1D, 13KO’s) coming to this title fight as the challenger.

The event is presented by Highland International Boxing Promotion and will be staged on February 17, 2018.

Sabillo who is now 34 years old started his boxing at the age of 19 and rose to the amateur ranks as an undefeated fighter under the wings of Villagonzalo. In 2013 Sabillo ALA boxing stable and won the Interim WBO world minimum weight champion.

In the course of his career, Sabillo suffered losses that could have led him to decide to quit boxing during that time. In 2015, Merlito made his comeback winning 2 fights but later on stumbled into 2 successive defeats in both International fights.
